Last week I started the custom made belts as was commissioned. I will show you how I finished them last weekend. Also I will show you how I pulled out the grappling hook pouch from the mold. They are the a piece of work. The hollow pouches were so easy. Once I wrinkled the leather I glued the belt loops and the belt closure. I let them rest 24 hours the way you see in the photos. Later I used a template for mark the holes for the flat rivets and did the holes.
Using the real props and accessories I calculated the right distance between the round rivets. So I created a template and used it to mark the round rivets holes and did them. Later I put the flat rivets as you will see in the photos. It is not easy, but not impossible. Just a little bit tricky.
The belt closure method I selected is a heavy duty Velcro. It is about 5 cm wide. I put brown for the brown belts and black for the black ones. It is just a finish detail. You will not see the Velcro when the belt is adjusted. Later I glued them using a powerful contact adhesive and let them rest for a couple of hours.
The next step is to put and adjust the 8 round head screw rivets. As you will see in the video they are very easy to place and adjust. They are not Sam Browne buttons! We call them "gemelos" or twins in Argentina.
The final step in the process is to assemble all the parts. I glued the belt straps and belt closures to the main body using the same powerful contact adhesive. This is how I usually do the Jedi Utility Belts. The belts are done and have been shipped. Hope that helps.
I started to cast the grappling hook pouch last week.. I got 5 out of the mold and I need to cast 5 more of them, which I will do during this week. This is how I do them. They are not so hard to do as the hollow ones, but the only problem here are the air bobbles. It is almost impossible to get a clear cast without a vacuum machine.
I use the wood holders to keep the mold in place when the resin is curing. The molds are very easy to fill and very hard to pull the pieces out as you will see in the videos. You will see 4 pipes in the piece. The pipes were put there to let the air escape.
I am pretty confident that I will be shipping them in about 2 weeks. Nothing gonna stop us this time! May the Force be with you!
